Buen Camino

In March 2023 I embarked on a pilgrimage; Camino de Santiago. I walked 115km over six days across Northern Spain, from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela. I wanted to capture my experience through the mediums of photography, dance and film, whilst collaborating with the talented Hannah Hornsby. Despite the challenging reality of walking miles everyday carrying your belongings on your back, there is a unmistakeable spiritual parallel. I wanted to explore and document this beautiful essence of ‘dancing through the pilgrimage’.

We begin photographically where many pilgrims begin mentally; stuck inside but with an energy to be free.

Confined in a crumbling derelict house, yet still moving and bathed in an amber glow, there is hope.

Gold and royal blue, dancing with the breeze.

We’re drawn to the warmth, as we come outside.

Play in it when you can.

Nature has the power to make you feel free like a child again.

Walking the Camino de Santiago was a wonderful experience. I hope the freedom and peace it gave me translates through this project and makes you feel the same.

No longer confined inside our own minds,

there is space to dance

and to breath.

Buen Camino!
